Environmental Policy.

Trent Grounds Maintenance is committed to delivering the highest standards with respect to the environment, resulting from our maintenance activities and is also committed to ensuring compliance with all environmental legislation.

The aims and objectives are to:


Health and Safety.

It is the policy of Trent Grounds Maintenance to provide and maintain a safe and healthy

working environment.  Accident prevention, occupational health and safety, and the protection of members of the public are an integral part of this strategy. The Partners of TGM accept their responsibilities under Health, Safety and Environmental legislation to protect themselves, others and the environment from harm.

The Partners are jointly responsible for all matters relating to the strategic planning of works programmes and schedules, and implementation of Health and Safety Policy.

Each site will be inspected and safety issues in relation to work activity will be identified. Where generic risk assessments do not apply then site specific assessments will be undertaken.

All plant and equipment shall be fit for the purpose, comply with relevant legislative procedures and be maintained and operated in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations by a competent operative.

Approved training and instruction will be given to all operatives on the proper use of machinery, equipment and safety devices.

The risks arising from the storage, transport and use of pesticides/herbicides and other chemicals/substances are controlled by strict adherence to manufacturer’s guidelines and/or any relevant environmental legislation. Special care is taken where any pesticide/herbicide/substance could come into contact with controlled waters.

Trent Grounds Maintenance utilises Quality Management procedures to ensure that the Partner’s Health, Safety and Environmental Policies are delivered.

T.G.M. has received accreditation from both SAFEcontractor  and CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety),  programmes  which recognise very high standards of health and safety practice amongst UK contractors.

The full Health and Safety Policy Statement is reviewed annually and made available to our clients.


Disposal of Waste

Trent Grounds Maintenance is licensed by the Environment Agency for the transportation of waste.

(Registration Number. CB/GE5333EH).  Generated material is generally recycled in a controlled manner to permit its safe re-use, or otherwise treated as waste, and disposed of, utilising the services of licensed waste carriers/contractors.  All “green” waste is composted.

This is a national body which represents landscape contractors and was established in 1972 to raise the standards of quality and workmanship.  Members are committed to professional excellence  and promoting an environmentally , ethically and commercially sustainable landscape industry.
